An Inconspicuous Encounter: A PCR Test Gone Wrong in Istanbul
Have paranormal investigators encountered any truly frightening experiences while investigating abandoned hospitals or other medical facilities? Our story takes a different turn. In the realm of the ordinary, one may encounter the unexpected. This tale revolves around an encounter with an invisible creature that hides in the shadows of an unexpected place - the results of a PCR test for coronavirus in 2020.
From Istanbul to Varna
In the autumn of 2020, the world was still reeling from the grips of the coronavirus pandemic. My son and I found ourselves obliged to leave Istanbul for Varna, Bulgaria. We had all the necessary documents, including the results of our PCR test, but little did we know what lay ahead.
The evening of September 29, after securing the test results, we prepared to depart. Meanwhile, my son, busy searching for an apartment in Varna, reported:
"Yes Haya, I found a suitable apartment on Booking but I’ve been waiting for confirmation by email for two hours now, and it’s still not there. I don’t understand what’s wrong."
The Anxious Wait
Feeling a growing sense of unease, I suggested we get some rest. Before we could, I noticed a letter from the hospital where we had taken the coronavirus test. The letter was in Turkish, and as I began to translate it, the anxiety began to mount:
"Unfortunately we were unable to reach you by phone so you forced us to find other means of communication through the police. We found an error in your test. You should come to us until noon. Tomorrow from 10 a.m. you will be prohibited from leaving the country and you will be wanted in the police system. If you do not appear the police will be authorized to arrest and quarantine you and your relative. Sorry for disturbing you, Mehmal Otoyul-Ali Clinic Specialist."
A Relief at Daybreak
As the night wore on, the first rays of sunlight pierced the apartment. Relief washed over us as the night’s events began to settle. We packed our bags with a renewed sense of hope. There were no obstacles on our journey, whether at the bus station or at the border. However, at the entrance to Bulgaria, something new awaited us:
"What is this?" asked the Bulgarian customs officer.
"Tests for coronavirus" we replied.
"Since you are entering from Turkish territory YOU DO NOT NEED THEM AT ALL!" the officer told us with a smile.
Unexpected Disappearances
As we drove through Bulgaria, a mysterious notification appeared on my smartphone and then vanished just as quickly. Who knows what it contained? The event left us both shaken and relieved, but it served as a reminder of the hidden complexities within the domain of medical procedures and the potential for unexpected surprises.
Conclusion
This story is a testament to the potential for the unexpected, even in the most mundane and science-driven processes. While paranormal investigations may uncover terrifying experiences, sometimes the real world holds its own unique and chilling narratives. Whether in the dark corners of abandoned hospitals or the shadows of a simple PCR test, these stories remind us to approach unforeseen situations with both caution and curiosity.
