Before and During Quarantine: Revealing My Cooking Journey
Before and During Quarantine: Revealing My Cooking Journey
What started as a simple homecoming trip turned into an unexpected culinary adventure for me. Isolated in my hometown for two months, quarantine became the perfect backdrop for me to unleash my inner chef. Join me as I share my cooking journey, from my humble beginnings to refining my skills over the past months.
From Contemplation to Cooking
Thinking I would only stay for a week with no clothes and no laptop, I was completely off work for two months, engaging in the simple cycle: cook, watch, sleep, repeat. My kitchen quickly became my sanctuary, a place where I discovered new flavors, improved my techniques, and ultimately, found comfort in the act of cooking.
My Cooking Highlights
Here are some of my most memorable dishes:
Predi Onion Uthappam
This South Indian delicacy required a bit of practice to achieve the perfect shape and flavor. Here's a snippet of how my uthappam looked after my second attempt. Notice how the vegetables and cheese provide a delightful texture and taste.
Maggi and Momos
My first attempt at cooking maggi was memorable, as was my first taste of deep-fried momos. The picture below showcases the lovingly prepared veg momos. My mother's involvement in shaping the dumplings brought us even closer as a family. The chicken momos made a bit later added an exciting twist to our menu.
Chocolate Cake
Even in the simplest forms, my culinary experiments brought smiles to my family's faces. This chocolate cake, though with a messy frosting, tasted like a delicious celebration.
Lessons from the Kitchen
These photos are just a glimpse into how my cooking skills have evolved over time. Each dish, whether a classic choco cooker cake, a healthy homemade pizza, or a perfect white sauce pasta, tells a story of patience, practice, and the love that comes from sharing a meal with loved ones. The journey has been as rewarding as the results.
See how far I've come, from my first maggi to more intricate creations like chicken momos. It's not about the end result, but about the effort put into every dish, every meal.
Thank you for joining me on this culinary adventure. I hope my journey inspires you to explore your own kitchen and maybe even share your adventures with us!
