Breaking the Record: Maximum Weight Loss Through Fasting

Fasting has always been a topic of interest, especially when it comes to weight loss. Here, I share some personal experiences and insights on the most significant weight loss recorded through fasting, excluding water and other liquids. This process not only involves adhering to specific practices but also requires a keen understanding of the body’s hydration and caloric intake.

Weight Loss during Fasting

Recently, I managed to drop a considerable amount of weight in an incredibly short period. Typically, I can lose more than 4 kg within around 2–3 hours despite consuming food and water. On particularly hot days, I can even lose close to 3 kg in an hour due to heavy sweating during my runs. My scale often triggers alerts, questioning whether I am a different person due to such dramatic changes in weight.

Within a week, my weight fluctuates significantly, ranging from around 76 kg to 73 kg. The lowest point usually occurs after my long run, which is primarily water weight. By monitoring my caloric intake, I can regain balance quickly, even after a few days of overeating.

Fasting and Its Effects

For the specific question about the record for the most significant weight loss through fasting, excluding water and other liquids, I can only provide my own experiences. Over the past two years, I have been following the ketogenic diet and prolonged fasting. This approach has significantly contributed to my weight loss journey, helping me reduce my weight by around 10 kg from my initial goal of 100 kg.

Optimizing Weight Loss through Dry Fasting

Fasting can be particularly effective when combined with other practices like light exercise, such as walking, maintaining a pulse rate below 120 BPM. Prolonged water fasting, typically lasting between 2–8 days, can be supplemented by dry fasts, where one avoids all contact with water, internal or external.

One dry fast can be roughly equivalent to three days of water fasting, as the body seeks to maximize its available water, often sourced from fat. I usually lose around 0.4–0.6 kg per day with water fasting, but my highest recorded weight loss occurred during a 24-hour hard dry fast, where I managed to lose approximately 1.2 kg. While the potential for significant weight loss through multiple days of dry fasting has been reported, I have chosen to avoid the added risks and focus on maintaining a balanced approach.

Preparation for a Prolonged Fast

To prepare for an upcoming 7–8 day fast, I am currently following a strict regimen, keeping my physical workload to a minimum. This cautious approach aims to minimize the strain on my body, ensuring a safe and effective weight loss journey. Being 63 years old and standing at 195 cm, this prolonged fast promises to be a significant step towards achieving my weight loss goals.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while the greatest weight loss through fasting is not recorded, my experiences suggest that a combination of prolonged fasting and dry fasting can lead to substantial weight loss. The key lies in monitoring caloric intake and maintaining a balanced approach to ensure safe and sustainable results.
