Does God Directly Intervene in Our Lives?
Have you ever felt that God is directly intervening in your life? The experience of a sudden rescue from an accident, a brush with fate, and the comforting presence of a miracle are common threads that many people weave into their stories. Each of us has faced moments when we felt the guiding hand of a higher power, especially in critical times.
A Riders’ Tale of Miraculous Intervention
One such moment was when I was rushing to Avadi from Redhills on my bike, traveling at a speed of 85 kmph. I chose the right side lane to overtake a Bolero truck laden with steel. Suddenly, the driver of the truck turned only 8 to 10 meters in front of me, leaving no room for maneuver. In a split second, I realized I had no choice but to hit the vehicle. But as the steel-laden truck reversed backward, I managed to veer into the main lane, staying out of harm's way. I didn't apply the brakes or do anything else to avoid the accident; instead, I briefly slowed down, watching the truck until it passed me by. This incident happened so quickly that it felt like a divine intervention. Within 2 to 3 days, I noticed a fragrance in the air, reminiscent of fresh flowers, which beckoned me to believe in God's support.
Personal Reflections on Faith and Help
The question of whether God exists and intervenes in our lives is one of the most critical and controversial topics. Different people have different opinions, shaped by their beliefs and experiences. If we ask about help and support, our struggles and our own efforts are crucial in determining our future. The saying, "God helps those who help themselves," is often true. Even when we feel that God has helped us, this assistance is often routed through others—our friends, family, or even spiritual guides. God is not always visible, but the acts of kindness and support we receive from others can be seen as manifestations of divine providence.
For instance, during my teenage years, I was climbing a mountain in the Western Ghats, above a roaring waterfall. A slight misstep caused me to slide down the slope, but I managed to grab a bush and halted the sliding. If the bush had not been there, I might have plunged into an eddy below the falls, a fate I would have been unable to avoid. This experience left me feeling that it was God who saved me, even if it came through a tangible object.
Lifetimes of Divine Guidance
Throughout my life, I have had numerous instances where I have felt a sense of divine presence. These experiences are deeply personal and often involved direct communication from a higher power. It is hard to describe the internal conversations or the sensations that come with such moments, but they do exist. They are, in fact, the manifestation of mercy, compassion, and blessings from God. Whatever success I have achieved in life can be attributed to God's will and grace, along with my own effort. In times of need and hardship, the belief in a guiding force can be particularly comforting.
For Those Unbelievers
For those who are secular oragnostic about the existence of a higher power, it is worthwhile to note that God often manifests in the form of good fortune and unexpected blessings. Many of us fail to recognize the subtle messages and signs that come our way, attributing them to chance or coincidence. However, these events are often signs of a greater purpose. More than the consequences of our actions (your Karma), it is the voice of a higher power calling out to us, guiding us towards the right path.
