Thus, lunch should be the largest meal of the day, as this is when the digestive fire is at its greatest. As the sun sets, so does our digestive agni, meaning dinner should be lighter and consumed before 8:00 p.m. Consuming a late-night meal can disrupt sleep, and after 10:00 p.m., the body is focused on detoxifying and processing the day’s food. Eating after 10:00 p.m. can lead to the accumulation of toxins, causing you to wake up feeling tired the next day.

The Benefits of Lassi

Another Ayurvedic tip for digestion is to drink a refreshing yogurt drink called Lassi either during or after the meal. Lassi is made with 1 cup of fresh, handcrafted yogurt, 1 cup of room-temperature water, and sugar to taste. Blended for one minute, it is light and contains lactobacilli, essential bacteria that lubricate the digestive organs to facilitate smooth digestion. Lassis also help reduce gas and bloating, providing a pleasant taste that can enhance the overall satisfaction and nutritional value of a meal.
