Discovery of the True Self: A Journey Beyond the Physical Body

Many seek to find their true self within their physical body or mind through meditation and other spiritual practices. However, exploring the true self goes beyond what commonly taught or widely practiced. In fact, the true self is much more profound and can be recognized by a simple, intuitive acknowledgment something that can never be spotted or identified through the usual methods of practice.

Unveiling the True Self

Imagine delving into the very core of your being. Instead of focusing on your physical body or brain, consider that the self that truly resides within is not merely matter, but a conscious presence that encompasses and transcends the body and mind. Meditation and other practices that aim to 'spot' the self within the body often fall short of this profound understanding, as the true self is elusive and cannot be pinpointed directly.

Understanding Perception and True Self

The true self is that which illuminates all of our perceptions, including seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and thinking. This aspect of us is what we commonly refer to as our consciousness. It is not a static entity that can be ‘seen’ or ‘spotted’ in the same way you might see a physical object. Instead, it can only be recognized intuitively, in the present moment. True self-recognition is about feeling out this ever-present, non-changing essence that is part of us.

Meditation as a Path to True Self

Meditation is a powerful tool for exploring the true self, as it helps us to quiet the mind and tap into a state of inner stillness and awareness. While intellect is not a barrier to starting a meditation practice, it plays a significant role in guiding one through the journey. By letting go of the continuous stream of thoughts and focusing on the non-changing aspects of our being, we can begin to recognize the true self.

Metaphor of the Sun and Clouds

Think of the true self as the sun, always shining but often obscured by the clouds of our thoughts and emotions. Just as the sun is always there, even when we cannot see it, the true self is always present within us. Meditation helps us to penetrate the clouds and see the sun, but the process requires letting go of the need to spot or identify the true self directly. It is about recognizing it at its core, in the present moment.

Exploring Core Energy and the True Self

Furthermore, the true self is not confined to the physical body. We are fundamentally a form of energy, and our core being can extend beyond our physical boundaries. Through meditation or other means, we can observe this core energy. In most cases, this energy appears as an amorphous field of energy, often colorful and vibrant. This energy field is not just a reflection of the physical self but is a deeper, more profound aspect of who we are.

In essence, the true self is an ever-present consciousness that is inherently aware. While it is beyond the physical body, it is also not limited to the mind. It is a state of being that can be recognized but not directly observed. By embracing this understanding and practicing mindfulness, individuals can begin to access and understand their true self in a more profound and meaningful way.
