Insights into the New De Novo Selection System for NDA SSB: What to Expect in 2020
Insights into the New De Novo Selection System for NDA SSB: What to Expect in 2020
The term “De Novo” signifies a fresh start or beginning, and this concept is now being explored in the context of the National Defence Academy (NDA) Selection System.
What Could Be Seen in the De Novo Selection System?
The De Novo Selection System aims to revolutionize the existing NDA Selection System (SSB) with several innovative changes. Here are some key points:
Shortened Duration: The SSB testing process will be condensed into just 3 days. New Behavioral Testing Techniques: Advanced and modern methods of behavioral testing will be introduced. Increased Fairness and Transparency: The system will minimize human subjectivity and streamline the process, reducing delays and time taken for SSB and medical evaluations. Convenience for Aspirants: The selection process will become more user-friendly and accessible. Modified Testing Techniques: All three existing testing methods will be reformed and possibly adapted to online platforms for greater convenience. Online Tests: Certain tests, such as screening and psychometric assessments, might be available online.Current Status and Future Outlook
While several boards such as the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) in Mysore and Service Selection Board (SSB) in Bangalore have been conducting trials with the De Novo system, the majority of boards are still following the traditional 5-day SSB interview process. There is currently no definitive timeline for when, if at all, the De Novo system will replace the current process.
According to some officials, the De Novo method was reviewed and found to have some shortcomings, leading to its rejection for now. This reaffirms the reliability of the existing SSB procedure, which, though time-consuming, has been well-established and tested over many years.
It is crucial to clarify that the De Novo system, while an innovative idea, is not yet ready for prime time. No recent updates have been issued regarding its imminent implementation. Therefore, the SSB process will continue to be conducted as per the traditional 5-day method for officer selection through the National Defence Academy (NDA).
TIP: While the De Novo system remains in the experimental phase, it is advisable to prepare thoroughly for the current 5-day SSB process. Staying informed about any updated changes and maintaining a positive mindset will be key to success. All the best to all aspirants.
Live your dreams.
