Interactions Between Cannabis and Vyvanse: Should You Combine Them?
Interactions Between Cannabis and Vyvanse: Should You Combine Them?
I have first-hand experience with both autism and ADHD. Although I am not a medical professional, my advice is based on personal observations, and I hope it can help others who may be facing similar situations.
For me, stimulants like Vyvanse have caused more challenges when it comes to managing autism symptoms. On the other hand, a cannabis oil regimen has proven to be beneficial, helping to control my autism and ADHD to some extent. Similarly, I often find the need for fidget toys when I need to communicate with people after an argument, especially those close to me. It’s important to remind oneself that just because one desires to express something doesn’t mean it is the right time. A therapist can provide support and help avoid being gaslighted or lied to.
Personal Experience with Vyvanse and Cannabis
Based on my experience, it is advisable to avoid combining Vyvanse and cannabis when the effects of the former are at their peak. If you take Vyvanse in the morning, it is best to wait until night for smoking. I made the mistake of combining edibles and Vyvanse, which was not a pleasant experience. I became extremely paranoid, felt like I was about to pass out, and experienced delayed reactions and extreme cotton mouth. Smoking cannabis can be done, but only when the Vyvanse has worn off, especially at night.
In my case, I have been taking Vyvanse for two months, starting with a 30 mg dose which was later increased to 50 mg. Taking the medication in the morning, I smoked weed the same night, resulting in a serious panic attack. My heart raced, my heart rate was incredibly elevated, I was shaking, and I had difficulty driving and breathing. My chest tightened, and I experienced chest pains when inhaling air. This was the scariest experience of my life, and I genuinely believe it could have led to cardiac distress. This is why I emphatically recommend not combining Vyvanse and cannabis.
Risks and Health Concerns
Both Vyvanse and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) increase heart rate, something that should not be underestimated. THC can cause vasodilation, further increasing cardiac output and potentially leading to respiratory distress and chest pain. There are documented cases of sudden cardiac arrest due to the interaction of stimulants and potent THC cannabis.
Personal health should always be prioritized. Combining two powerful drugs like Vyvanse and cannabis increases the strain on your heart and overall body. Your body tries to process both substances simultaneously, which can lead to severe health issues, such as a stroke, heart attack, respiratory distress, and even death. Please be cautious when using drugs while taking medications. Your health is too important to ignore.
