Severe depression, on the other hand, may have a more biological or genetic basis. Conditions like unipolar or bipolar disorder are chronic in nature and may require ongoing management. However, this does not mean that individuals cannot lead fulfilling lives with the right treatment and support.

Addressing the Root Causes

The true 'cure' for depression often depends on addressing the root causes of the condition. For instance:

For someone whose depression was triggered by the loss of a loved one, the solution might be to imagine the loved one 'coming back to life,' which, of course, is not realistic but provides an emotional outlet for unresolved grief.

For loneliness, the 'cure' might involve finding someone who makes you feel like the most important and valuable person, which can be both challenging and rewarding.

For a failure that triggers depression, the solution could be to finally achieve success, which can provide a sense of validation and pride.

While true 'curing' might not always be possible, there are several effective ways to manage and treat depression:
