Physical Sensations During Kundalini Rising: A Personal Journey and Insights
Understanding Physical Sensations During Kundalini Rising
During a kundalini awakening, many individuals experience a range of physical sensations that can vary widely from person to person. These sensations often include tingling, shaking, involuntary movements, waves of energy, heat, and more. Understanding these experiences can provide greater insight into the process and ensure appropriate care and support.
Common Physical Sensations During Kundalini Rising
Tingling: Energy can feel like it's circulating along the spine, arms, hands, or genitals, creating a tingling sensation.
Shaking or Vibrating: The body may shake or vibrate, sometimes so strongly that involuntary movements such as swaying, nodding, clapping, or laughing occur.
Involuntary Movements: Uncontrolled body movements such as wobbling, shaking, or specific tics can be part of the experience. In some cases, the chin or mouth may wobble or shake gently.
Goosebumps: Waves of energy can cause goosebumps to move through the body, often accompanied by tingling sensations.
Heat: The body may feel hot, as if an internal heat is rising through the chakras.
Sensations Walking or Jumping Like Ants, Frogs, and Monkeys: These are often reported as more unique and vivid sensations that mimic the movements of different animals or insects.
A Personal Story: Journey Through Kundalini
I had an extremely painful awakening that started in my calves and progressed upwards, affecting each chakra in turn. The pain was so intense that I ended up in the hospital, but Western medical doctors were unable to diagnose the cause. Eventually, I was referred to a book by Lee Sanella, which described the experience and attributed it to meditation. At that time, I was practicing transcendental meditation.
Afterward, I was treated with a specific type of deep acupressure/massage. The practitioner recognized the condition, and ongoing practices such as yoga asana and pranayama helped alleviate the pain over time. To my knowledge, I have never experienced such intensity since then.
Other people have very different experiences. In my case, I felt that energetic or physical blocks were being removed as the kundalini awakened. However, one teacher suggested that I was too open and should not have allowed this to happen. I still do not understand how I could have prevented it from occurring.
If anyone else has had a similar experience, I would love to hear about it and how you handled the situation. To me, it remains puzzling.
Partial vs. Full Kundalini Awakening
A partial kundalini awakening can include a variety of sensations such as heat, buzzing, vibrations, and spontaneous movements, along with visions and sounds. However, just because you experience these sensations does not necessarily mean it's a kundalini awakening. The full awakening is characterized by a clear union with Spirit, a sensation that is unmistakable.

Other Personal Experiences
Body vibration, cold or hot sensations, and automatic practices like asana and pranayam are common during kundalini rising. Here are a few others who have shared their experiences:
Person A: Reported intense heat rising through the body, coupled with tingling sensations and involuntary movements. Person B: Experienced waves of energy that created goosebumps and a feeling of being lifted from the ground. Person C: Described a full-body vibration that felt like being jolted by electricity.-
