Setting and Tracking Fitness Goals for 2021
Setting and Tracking Fitness Goals for 2021
Thanks for asking about my fitness goals for 2021! The past year, 2020, saw many people gaining weight due to extended periods of home confinement and festive indulgences. It's crucial to address these challenges head-on as we move into 2021.
Weight Loss and Healthy Habits
People often make New Year's resolutions but often find them hard to keep. Given the challenges faced this year, I believe sticking to these resolutions can be a positive step. I typically don't set grand resolutions, but rather focus on goals as the year progresses. Here are my personal fitness goals for 2021:
Bench Pressing 300 lbs
One of my primary goals is to bench press 300 lbs. Currently, I can manage around 200 lbs, so this is a significant challenge. It requires consistent training and dedication, which I am fully committed to achieving.
Experimenting with Low Body Fat Percentages
Another goal is to explore single-digit body fat percentages. I've never reached this level before, so I'm excited to see how my body responds. This will require a detailed approach to nutrition and training.
Eating Healthily Without Guilt
A less conventional goal is to eat less healthy food, albeit still in moderation. In the past, the guilt associated with occasional indulgences has been overwhelming. Growing up in a health food store, I've always been health-conscious. In this new approach, I plan to focus less on restrictive eating and more on common sense and portion control, coupled with intermittent fasting. My goal is to break the cycle of constant dieting and enjoy the freedom to eat what I want, within reason, while maintaining overall health.
Training in a Striking-Based Martial Art
Learning a new martial art seems like a fun and fulfilling challenge. Not only will it be an excellent way to maintain fitness, but it will also offer a new skill set and mental discipline. Striking-based martial arts, such as kickboxing or Muay Thai, can be particularly effective in enhancing overall physical fitness.
Morning Yoga and Meditation Routine
I aim to establish a 30-minute yoga and meditation routine every morning. This goal may pose a challenge initially due to sharing a living space with roommates, but patience and determination will help us achieve it. Regular practice of these exercises will not only improve my flexibility and mindfulness but also set a positive tone for the day ahead.
Self-Discipline and Habit Formation
While setting goals is important, the key is to turn them into habits. True change comes from consistent effort and self-discipline. It's about putting in the work daily rather than relying on fleeting enthusiasm. As we embrace these goals for 2021, let's strive for sustainable progress and meaningful transformation.
Remember, everyone's journey is unique. Engage with your commitment, stay positive, and enjoy the process of achieving your fitness goals. Feel free to share your thoughts or reach out if you have any questions.
Good Luck! Happy New Year!
