Success Rates: The success rate of using vaping as part of a smoking/nicotine addiction cessation program is limited. Relatively few individuals have been able to completely quit smoking using vaping methods. For young users who have never smoked, vaping can be particularly dangerous, as it can lead to nicotine addiction and eventual smoking.

Vaping had its origins in the 1960s when Big Tobacco researched it as a more acceptable nicotine delivery system. However, it was sidelined during the Big Tobacco lawsuits. Decades later, vaping was resurrected in the 1990s and marketed as an aid to quit smoking or reduce the known hazards of smoking. These claims were more of a con than an honest solution, as evidenced by the outcomes of its use.
