Recently, I ordered food online for my family. The order was scheduled to be delivered by 8:30 PM, perfect for our dinner. After the status changed to “picked by delivery guy,” the delivery time kept delaying. My brother, running out of patience, called the delivery boy and started being rude. After 20 minutes, the delivery boy rang our doorbell, and we saw him riding an old bicycle. My brother was instantly ashamed and could not say a word.
This incident is not about the delivery boy being poor but about how we often forget what a person is going through. We tend to react thoughtlessly and be rude, especially when we pay for something. This fuels a sense of superiority and authority. However, we forget that someone is paying us too.
Let’s be kind because the earth is already a harsh place. Being compassionate to others has numerous benefits both for individuals and society as a whole.
