However, the ancient Greeks introduced a groundbreaking concept that transformed the landscape of science: the idea of a 'proof.'
The Emergence of Scientific Proof
The Milesian philosophers, such as Anaximander and Anaximenes, further revolutionised science by formulating the first scientific rule: 'A sufficient reason for a natural phenomenon exists in nature.' This was the first significant milestone in the development of natural science. However, the ancient Greeks believed that the pursuit of objective reality could be achieved through knowledge alone, without the need for experimentation. This was, in essence, a major paradigm shift in scientific thought.

Anaximenes, on the other hand, provided the first model of the atom, suggesting that matter is composed of fundamental elements.
