I embarked on a journey with yoga a few years ago at Krishna Wellness Yoga and Cultural Centre. Initially, my motivation was simple: to improve my physical strength, flexibility, and to alleviate back pain. Little did I know that yoga would transform more than just my body. It offered profound mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits that have redefined my overall well-being.

Personal Experience with Yoga

At Krishna Wellness Yoga and Cultural Centre, I experienced a holistic approach to yoga that extended far beyond physical wellness. The classes, taught with a blend of traditional and modern techniques, allowed me to explore the profound impact of yoga on my mental and emotional state. Raja Yoga: The Eight-Fold Path to Self-Realization

Among the various forms of yoga, Raja Yoga, or Astanga Yoga, offers a detailed roadmap for self-realization. This ancient system, outlined in the Yoga Sutras, consists of eight limbs or angas:

Yama: Moral virtues and ethics for living in harmony with others. Niyama: Personal duties and observances that contribute to self-discipline and spiritual growth. Asana: Physical postures that help in fostering a healthy body. Pranayama: Conscious regulation of breath for mental peace and control. The first five limbs (external limbs) focus on the physical and ethical aspects, while the last three (internal limbs) delve into the mental and spiritual realms. Ultimately, the goal of Raja Yoga is to
transcending the mind and experiencing a profound state of self-realization, characterized by sat-chit-ananda—consciousness, bliss, and truth.
