It is common for many to believe that MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) doctors look down on dentists or veterinarians. However, such a perspective reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of the roles and importance of each profession. This article aims to explore the differences and the unique contributions of each field, emphasizing the importance and respect each deserves.

Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that MBBS is a discipline closely aligned with and advancing alongside modern science. Unlike other alternative degrees, such options are not available in most other disciplines. She is a gold medalist in her MDS exams in prosthodontics and has a thriving clinic. Her patients leave with bright smiles, relieved of their tooth pains. It is truly remarkable how our relief is palpable when a tooth extraction or a root canal is completed.

Pursuing an alternative healthcare career, such as a dental degree (BDS), was on my consideration list. However, my extended family's disapproval stemmed from practical concerns, not from a lack of respect for the profession. These reservations are common and understandable, but they do not negate the value of specialization.

Therefore, choosing a career for which I have no genuine interest would have led to subpar treatment of patients and the profession.
